Robert Lefever was awarded a choral exhibition at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
As a countertenor, he gained a performers ARCM diploma, gave a solo recital in the Purcell Room, understudied at Glyndebourne and sang a major part in a Handel opera at Sandler’s Wells.
As a conductor, he put on three fully-staged and costumed performances, with half orchestra, of La Bohème to favourable review by John Warrack in The Daily Telegraph.
As a composer, he has written the words and vocal score to two musicals (The Individual and LEGO!), two song cycles (Call it love. Yess. Yess and Sonnet Songs), a Personal Requiem, an opera (Mata Hari. Femme fatale) and four Gospel Songs, short settings of 24 Slogans from Alcoholics Anonymous and other songs for seven solo singers (SSATTBB). He has also composed sets of simple pieces for piano.
His primary influences are Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Giacomo Puccini and George Gershwin.
